Coldplay perform Martin Garrix & Mesto’s ‘Breakaway’ at Glastonbury: Watch

The legendary band Coldplay performed Martin Garrix & Mesto’s Breakaway during their headline performance at this year’s Glastonbury which marks another massive win for the electronic music scene.

No one would’ve ever predicted a band like Coldplay to ever play an original mix of an electronic music track. That is exactly what happened during their headline performance at this year’s Glastonbury. The legendary band mashed up their hit collaboration with The Chainsmokers Something Just Like This with Martin Garrix & Mesto’s Breakaway. Fans who follow Martin Garrix’s every step know for a fact that the Dutch DJ and producer is a massive fan of the band. He never shied away from posting stories on his Instagram where he shared his experiences at various Coldplay concerts.

Martin Garrix & Mesto both took to Instagram to express their shock and gratitude right as they heard the performance. Mesto himself was speechless, stating that he “can’t explain in words how crazy this feels”, while Martin Garrix jokingly said that “Coldplay playing Breakaway at Glastonbury wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card”. Indeed, there is some backstory leading up to Breakaway being played live by Coldplay. As previously mentioned, Martin Garrix is a massive fan of the band and has been attending their concerts numerous times. He is also good friends with Guy Berryman who is a guitarist in the band. Their friendship might have prompted Coldplay to try out one of Martin’s tracks live.

All in all, Coldplay performing Breakaway live marks a massive victory for the electronic music scene.
