Diplo: “Rihanna is the truest artist in the world right now”

In a world where the music industry can be harsh and artificial, Mad Decent founder Diplo claims that Rihanna is the truest artist in the world today. The American DJ/Producer recently made the claim in an interview, after Rihanna called a Diplo track “reggae song at an airport”.

The cosign arrived while the DJ was discussing his Give Me Future biography with Viceland’s Desus & Mero. The film gives viewers behind-the-scenes insights into the event which saw Diplo and the rest of Major Lazer playing in front of 450,000 Cubans.

During the 15-minute interview, Diplo also discussed his production timeline since working with M.I.A. a decade ago, the spontaneity of music writing, his continued desire to work with Rihanna among other talented female lyricists, buying a $120,000 house with cash, coming up in Philadelphia, possibly changing his alias and preparing James Van Der Beek for Vice’s What Would Diplo Do mockumentary.

Rihanna aside, Diplo has been just fine in 2017. He recently released a 5-track EP with Starrah and just dropped a brand-new track with good friend MØ. In addition to this, Diplo was nominated for two Grammy Awards earlier in the year, after he co-produced songs on Beyoncé‘s album ‘Lemonade‘ and Justin Bieber‘s ‘Purpose‘.
