Dimitri Vegas set to be cast in feature-length film
Dimitri Thivaios from the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike is the first casting announcement to be made for George C. Romero’s film “Rise of the Living Dead”, the prequel to his father’s (George A. Romero) legendary horror film, “Night of the Living Dead”. The announcement was made via Facebook yesterday. The Belgian DJ/Producer also recently tied the knot with his fiancée Anouk Matton.
While Dimitri isn’t the first DJ to appear in a film, he’s one of the first to play a significant role. However, Romero is keeping his cards close to his chest and is yet to reveal Dimitri’s official role. Other notable DJ’s who appeared in films include Diplo‘s cameo in 22 Jump Street, Golide as Valentin Zukovsky’s gold-toothed bodyguard, in the 1999 James Bond film; The World Is Not Enough and Carl Cox as the manager of the Asylum Club in 1999’s clubbing classic Human Traffic.
After adding acting to his resume, Dimitri Thivaios is coming off the back of an impressive run in 2016/2017 with two No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart – including their Ne-Yo collaboration ‘Higher Place‘ and their Diplo assisted ‘Hey Baby‘. The duo most recently released ‘Complicated‘ with David Guetta and Kiiara. The single has garnered over 59 million streams on Spotify, 36 million views on YouTube and is currently No. 3 Billboard’s Dance Chart.
