Alan Walker returns with an enchanting new single ‘This is Me’

While nailing a massive performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami with an energetic Electro House set, Alan Walker slows things down a notch with the release of his newest track ‘This Is Me‘. Even though the 20-year old Norwegian prodigy has always had a soft spot for movie soundtracks, the Oscar-nominated song ‘This Is Me’ is only his first remake as such. Taken from the 2017 blockbuster ‘The Greatest Showman’ starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Keala Settle, the song’s message stands for what Alan Walker truly and personally believes in.

When Alan Walker’s debut single ‘Faded’ catapulted him into the electronic dance music industry back in 2015, the young producer quickly had to adapt himself to a life in the spotlight. Born as a shy boy, he struggled with having to stand in front of large audiences, which explains why the lyrics and the deeper meaning of his new track mean so much to him.

Walker further explains the importance of ‘This Is Me’ to him personally as follows:

“I’ve received a lot of stories and messages from you all during my career. It touches me more than you know to read about the struggles and challenges some of you have been through. Know that you’re definitely not alone. I’ve carried the burden of insecurities myself, like being shy or not being able to stand in front of large crowds. But I’ve overcome them, and I’m proud of who I am today. So should you be! This Is Me is a song that moved me from a film that really struck me in the heart. Thanks to Keala Settle and the whole cast and crew of The Greatest Showman for putting this important message in the spotlight. Walkers, be proud of who you are!”

With only 96 BPM, ‘This Is Me’ definitely isn’t your typical Alan Walker tune, but the track once again shows Walker’s ability to blend sentimental melodies and meaningful lyrics with his signature Electro House and Future Bass sound. American actress and singer Keala Settle, who performed ‘This Is Me’ live at The Oscars 2018 just a few weeks ago, added her warm and soulful vocals to Walker’s version of the track, turning it into a refreshing and emotional gospel-like Bass House anthem.
