Home Uncategorized Avicii’s iconic hit ‘Wake Me Up’ turns 5 years old

With the devastating news of Avicii’s passing this spring and the spiraling turn of events surrounding his tragic death, the Swedish icon impacted hundreds of thousands around the world with his incredibly rich melodies, soaring harmonies and ultimately positive and uplifting messages within his tunes. Tim filled a void plenty of artists have only dreamed of touching, with tunes like ‘The Days/The Nights‘, ‘Levels‘, ‘Waiting For Love‘ and plenty more, but none were nearly as impactful and heartfelt than his now 5 year old release ‘Wake Me Up‘.

The tune which ultimately became a staple in Avicii’s ever expansive catalog, now sees a new day turning an unbelievable 5 years old. Following Avicii’s passing, ‘Wake Me Up‘ has not only one of the most beautiful and connective tunes Avicii has created to date, but now following the tragic details, seemingly ominous, describing Tim’s true feelings of being “lost” behind an uplifting and hopeful guitar clad instrumental.

Looking back on the influential release, several rumors have recently surfaced that Avicii’s family and loved ones have given the ok for the superstar’s last working album to see the light of day. Although at this point there is only speculation and no confirmation from the family themselves, especially having just recently held a private funeral in Stockholm for the Swedish legend – Mixmag reports the family has “met with record company representatives and partners” and “agreed that an album will be released by the end of the year.” The only thing we can do now is patiently wait on a conformation from the family and record label.

However, until new information surfaces regarding a potential album release, we’ll continue to listen through to the beloved catalog of the master melody maker and what more fitting than to revisit Avicii’s global hit, ‘Wake Me Up‘ on it’s 5th birthday.
