The 46th edition of the American Music Awards is just around the corner. As per usual, Hip-Hop is dominating the game, with Drake and Cardi B leading all artists with 8 nominations apiece. Tailing close behind them are Ed Sheeran and Post Malone with six nominations apiece.
While the electronic music sector isn’t as well-represented as last year (where The Chainsmokers were nominated for 5 different awards), Marshmello, Zedd and The Chainsmokers will all battle it out for the title of ‘Favourite EDM Artist’. While America’s biggest Future Bass act didn’t replicate their immense success from last year, the duo has put up a respectable 2018 campaign, with their singles ‘Sick Boy’ and ‘Somebody’ both earning Gold certification in Australia.
Meanwhile, Zedd’s smash-hit ‘The Middle’ with Maren Morris and Grey has enjoyed a stellar year, earning 6 Platinum certifications in 6 different countries, as well as topping the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart and the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Marshmello, on the other hand, has also enjoyed a great deal of success in 2018, with his single ‘Everyday’ achieving Gold certification in Australia, and his hit-single ‘Friends’ going Platinum in 9 different countries, as well as topping Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.
