Home Uncategorized Apple purchases Shazam, removes all adverts

In a surprising move, Apple has just officially purchased Shazam for $400 million. The first move by Apple has seen all advertisements removed from the Shazam platform, something which will undoubtedly prove a popular decision with music fans worldwide. According to Apple’s vice president of Apple Music:

“Apple and Shazam have a long history together. Shazam was one of the first apps available when we launched the App Store and has become a favorite app for music fans everywhere.”

Shazam is the world’s most popular music recognition service, allowing users to discover brand new tracks that they do not recognise through unique listening technology. Most commonly used at festivals and events, the service is a great method for allowing users to discover new artists and tracks, and for allowing artists to receive further recognition for their work. Apple’s press release states that Shazam has been downloaded a staggering 1 billion times worldwide and identifies over 20 million songs a day. The removal of ads will no doubt see Shazam become even more popular worldwide, resulting positively for users and musicians alike.
