R/EDM Unveils Highlights of the Year 2018

At the end of every year, all kinds of lists, recaps and Top 10’s usually surface to take a look back at the what the year had to offer. Reddit, America’s extremely popular social news platform, is no exception to this rule and their music section r/EDM has also just come up with their interesting list of highlights for the year 2018.

Just before champagne and fireworks marked the arrival of a brand new year, r/EDM has unveiled their list of all the hottest songs, albums, posts and topics from 2018 and the review is definitely worth a closer look. If anything, it clearly shows that the sub is an American platform, as many of the listed artists are far less popular in Europe than they are in the US. Illenium for example, claimed the highest rated song with ‘Take You Down’, but wasn’t booked for Tomorrowland, one of Europe’s biggest and most popular festivals. His remix for Halsey‘s ‘Without Me’ holds the number 2 spot, showing Illenium’s extreme popularity in his home country of the US.

The world’s number 1 DJ Martin Garrix appears an amazing six times in the Top 30 of r/EDM’s highest rated songs, which proves that the Dutchman had every right to claim that title for the third time in his career. Seven Lions, The Chainsmokers, and Odesza are all included several times as well. When it comes to the highest rated post, it’s no surprise that the tragic death of Swedish superstar Avicii is on the top of that list.
