Producers are no strangers to using aliases when creating music that is different to what they would usually make and Joel Zimmerman – also known as Deadmau5 is no different. Bringing out the Testpilot moniker – which focuses on the darker, techno side to his music – Joel found time in between his jam-packed schedule to take over the decks for his first highly anticipated Essential Mix since 2008.

The first hour of the stunning mix is a techno lovers dream, guiding the listener through a wonderland of hypnotic beats and tantalizing tracks. Dedicating it solely to Testpilot-esque music, Joel drops tracks from tech legends such as Cosmic Boys, Enrico Sangiuliano and Nic Fanciulli to name a few, and injects vocals from popular Deadmau5 tracks such as ‘The Veldt’ into the mix whilst retaining the Testpilot feel.  Ending the first half on a bang, the Canadian producer drops his ID ‘Fall’.

Making the seamless switch from Testpilot to Deadmau5 for the second half, listeners will be delighted to hear classics such as ‘My Pet Coelacanth’, ‘Moar Ghosts N Stuff’ and ‘Strobe’. Long awaited IDs ‘Saturn’ and ‘Coasted’ were also dropped, teasing fans.
