ARTY files lawsuit against Marshmello for alleged copyright infringement

Home Uncategorized ARTY files lawsuit against Marshmello for alleged copyright infringement

Marshmello‘s double-platinum hit ‘Happier’ is now at the centre of a lawsuit filed by ARTY for alleged copyright infringement. The ARTY track that is involved in the suit is his official remix for One Republic‘s ‘I Lived’ which was released just shy of 5 years ago. The Russian DJ claims that Marshmello has directly copied the melody. The suit also claims that there is enough evidence that he was aware that the remix existed and was therefore aware of its composition, especially as they cross paths on a frequent basis touring the world.

ARTY will be sided with lawyer Richard Busch, a heavyweight who has won cases such as Marvin Gaye’s lawsuit against Pharell Williams and Robin Thicke. Both dance music behemoths ARTY and Marshmello share the same music publisher, Kobalt Music. It will be particularly interesting to see how the suit develops with the music publisher acting as a defendant in the case as well as Daniel Smith and Steve Mac.

We Rave You will be sure to keep you up to date with the lawsuit in due course.
