Brazillian talent Alok has pushed his work to new cross-genre boundaries, joining forces with Sevenn to provide us with their own special twist on Pink Floyd’sAnother Brick in The Wall (Part II)’.

‘The Wall’ joins a long list of alternative versions of the classic 1979 tune, including another from dance music goliath Eric Prydz called ‘Proper Education’. On this occasion, Alok has teamed up with Californian producer Sevenn, whom you may know for work alongside Tiësto on their hit ‘BOOM’, as well as many other globally successful anthems. Together, they have combined their talents to release a seamlessly crafted funky, bass-heavy sequences around the authentic, original samples, which they successfully acquired the rights for through Roger Waters himself (co-founder and bassist of Pink Floyd).

In the production process, they seemed to have wanted to make their version even more personal to them, reworking the timeless lyrics “We don’t need no education”. Through an external producer, this was made possible as they had their own group of school children record a refreshing new rendition of the famous lines. Drawing their production prowess together, this version has all the potential to be successful and might even see movement in the charts, much like the original did, hitting number 1 for 3 weeks back in 1980.

The remake arrives as Alok unveils his new record label CONTROVERSIA, dedicated only to club music. His rationale for the start-up of the label comes as he wants to keep in touch with his electronic roots, as he admits his recent music has taken him in more of a pop music direction. The label is to see one year contract, at least, under the global label Spinnin’ and will be sure to bring a whole heap of exciting, fresh talent onto the scene.

July sees Alok perform at one of the world most prestigious dance music festivals Tomorrowland and it’s with no doubt he will send the crowd into a frenzy with this pulsating new Pink Floyd remake in his arsenal. Make sure to add it to your playlist and check it out below!
