This year, Electric Zoo in New York City had the ‘Evolved’ tagline attached to it, suggesting a nostalgic celebration of how far the festival had come since the inauguration year back in 2009, and what better way to celebrate than with a line-up consisting of the likes of Above & Beyond, Dog Blood, Armin van Buuren and many many more who gave their all into putting on the best show possible. If the lineup wasn’t enough, some DJs even played host to their own arena takeovers and one of those included Eric Prydz and his Electric Zoo Pryda arena.
On Saturday, August 31, Prydz (along with artists such as Green Velvet, Yotto and Cristoph before him) took to the Pryda arena for his second set of the weekend, headlining the Main Stage the night before, and he blew the crowd away like always. Opening up with a string of Pryda hits such as ‘Armed’, ‘Javlar’ and ‘Vega’, the set was in full flow before he teased the crowd with multiple new IDs leaving them guessing as to what it could be and whether it was an Eric Prydz track or another artist’s track and him gave no hints. In fact, the whole set was injected with IDs (over five in total), giving a mysterious vibe. Showing love and giving the spotlight to his other extremely popular alias Cirez D, he made sure to play a couple of tracks much to the delight of eager fans. Ending the two-hour set with a bang, he decided to play his Private Remix of the iconic M83 track ‘Midnight City’ which got the crowd moving in a big way.
Blowing everyone away with this set and the carefully crafted tracklist selection, this just once again shows why he is it the forefront of his genre. The full set is available to listen to below and the tracklist is available here.
