The BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix has become the most coveted electronic show in radio history. Starting all the way back in 1993 with the legendary Pete Tong, nearly every massive name in electronic music has done a mix with some even coming back more than once for the 1-3am radio slot. It’s one of the longest-running programmes on the Radio 1 schedule and it continues to be as popular as ever, never losing relevance or high listener numbers over the years. Recent takeovers from artists include Rezz, Skream, Holy Goof and now the one and only Fisher.

That’s right, the eccentric Australian DJ is finally making his way to the Essential Mix decks after a massive rise in popularity in the past year or two. It seems that everyone wants a piece of the Fish, and we don’t blame them with his original productions being more than catchy and memorable. It looks like 2020 is set to be another massive year for Fisher, and the Essential Mix slot is the perfect way to kick it all off.

We’re expecting big things from this mix, and if his usual sets are anything to go by then it will be two full hours of banger after banger, non-stop. Landing on air at the usual time of 1am until 3am (UK time), January 25 is when BBC Radio 1 is going to be taken on a tantalizing tech house adventure so be sure to tune in then to not miss out! Past episodes of the show are available to listen to on their website here.
