Above & Beyond, the GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats have just released the extended mixes for their latest album, Tranquility Base Vol. 1. The new mixes come less than a month after the original edits first hit streaming services.

After their sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium last October, they took a six-month break from the studio and of course, they have since been involved in many events while traveling the world. Later, Jono, Paavo, and Tony started working on the new extended project. And so was born Tranquility Base Vol. 1 which has already satisfied their fans without the extended versions, as the collection of five hard-hitting club tunes returns to the composers’ instrumental roots. The members of the group discussed the new mixes:

“In the same way the quieter moments on our albums have always been a major part of Above & Beyond, the bigger dancefloor moments have also been a hallmark of our sound”

Interestingly, the EP series name refers to Above & Beyond‘s popular pseudonym, “Tranquility Base”, which is revered for its adherence to the trance genre. Hence the naming of the album Tranquility Base EP. The tracks in the collection were compiled according to the electronic music industry’s favorite genres and styles, and although the final EP was only released on 25 May (and just recently the extended mixes), the five tracks debuted in front of 25,000 fans in Los Angeles last October – it was paired with the smoother-feeling “Spin Off” and the darker-atmosphere “VLEKNO”.

So, in order, you can find the following numbers in Vol 1:

  1. Angry JP8
  2. Wasp
  3. 500
  4. VLEKNO
  5. Spin Off

In conclusion, it’s safe to say that the band has produced a very high-quality compilation that was already suitable for clubs and even a weekend shift, but the newly released extended versions are definitely worth a listen, as they clearly were made for the fans and for all those who love electronic music.
