Armin van Buuren finally dropped a long-awaited DJ set highlight, Motive, alongside a phenomenal music video.

Driven by a newfound love for music following the release of his 8th studio album Feel Again, Armin van Buuren finally released a frequently requested record, Motive. A highlight from the dozens of sets he performed over the past months, including Ultra Miami back in March and EDC Las Vegas last month. Alongside the track, Motive also comes in a form of a breathtaking music video, one that underlines the song’s concept of shaping and reforming one’s own narrative. The club mix of the track, which is the version Armin has been playing lately, will arrive later on.

Motive exudes limitless crossover appeal from the get-go. It successfully synergizes robust beats with a mesmerizing vocal presence, which leaves the track effortlessly ticking all the boxes for countless worldwide listeners. Armin van Buuren himself gave his own perspective of the track and described the true meaning behind it:

“Although the notion of a motive refers mostly to love and heartbreak in the song’s lyrics, I think there’s a broader meaning to it that’s worth homing in on. Sometimes, especially when you find yourself limited, numb or otherwise repressed, you’ve got to be honest and ask yourself what your own motive is. Gaining a new perspective could be key to overriding whatever it is that holds you back.”

As mentioned above, Motive comes in a package together with a sensational music video. It portrays a young man editing his storyline to be with the woman that got away. The video was partly shot in New York City to tie in the speed of the Big Apple and the need to stay grounded amidst the rush. Spot-on visuals and powerful reserve effects serve as an extension to the artistic narrative that has led Armin van Buuren throughout his long-lasting career so far.

As has been the case for many years, Armin van Buuren still proves he is one of the biggest global ambassadors for electronic music. Alongside his immense productivity in the studio, as showcased in his eighth studio album, Feel Again, Armin has continued to cultivate his weekly A State Of Trance radio show, reaching 40 million listeners on a weekly basis. He also announced 4 special shows this September at the acclaimed Ushuaïa Ibiza, as well as a new beginning for A State Of Trance events, now taking place in Rotterdam instead of Utrecht. You can also check out a special set he delivered as a part of the Armada In The Mix series in New York’s Armada Music office here.
