HI-LO releases a 2-track techno EP on Drumcode featuring “CRESCENDO” and “OPEN YOUR MIND”
Dutch DJ and electronic music producer Oliver Heldens‘ techno alter ego HI-LO releases a new EP on Adam Beyer’s record label Drumcode, featuring 2 tracks. He’s not new to the label, as he has previously found a home on the imprint for two consecutive years for his albums “Hypnos” and “WANNA GO BANG“. And last year, he released two singles on Drumcode, one of which was a collaboration with Layton Giordani, “Rabbit Hole“, and the other was a remix of Adam Beyer & DJ Rush’s hit track “Restore My Soul“.
He made his big return to Beyer’s label with “CRESCENDO”, a very energetic techno track with a strong sound and synth progression, showing Oliver’s studio experience.
“My aim was to craft something hypnotic, dark, and trippy while maintaining a melodic and groovy essence. Personally, ‘CRESCENDO’ is one of those tracks I can play on an endless loop without getting tired of it. It has been exhilarating to witness the overwhelming response to the track in my HI-LO sets and in Adam’s sets at Timewarp Germany and Brazil.”, said HI-LO
“CRESCENDO” is accompanied by “OPEN YOUR MIND” which HI-LO says was inspired by “Murder Was the Bass”, recorded by DK8 in 2003. And just like the first track on the EP, this song is also a techno track with some electro and breakbeat influences.
“After months of road testing and fine-tuning, I am beyond excited about the final result. I’ve had a blast playing this track not only in my HI-LO sets but also in several ‘mainstage’ sets as Oliver Heldens. Also quoting Adam: ‘That groove is amazing! Super funky, gritty, uplifting – it’s got it all!’ I couldn’t agree more with that!”, commented HI-LO
