KSHMR & Maddix combine for powerful new single ‘Close To You’: Listen
American DJ and producer KSHMR and the rising star from the Netherlands, Maddix have worked their collective magic on Close To You, a bigroom-techno production that also marks the first release on the latter’s new label EXTATIC.
Niles Hollowell-Dhar, known worldwide as KSHMR, and Pablo Rindt, also known as Maddix have released Close To You, a vocal-driven big room-techno track as the debut single on Maddix’s new record label EXTATIC. Since the fusion of techno and trance became Maddix’s signature sound back in 2020, he carefully honed his style, and Close To You is the perfect culmination of his tireless years-long work. And what better way to test your skills than to collaborate with KSHMR, one of the scene’s most influential and skillful producers?
Close To You starts with a smashing big room-techno kick with Maddix’s signature all over it. It slowly teases the vocal, sung by none other than the brilliant Sarah de Warren who wasn’t credited in the original title. Before her vocal kicks in, the first drop hits the listener with immense force. KSHMR’s ethnic influence is felt throughout the drop’s melody while Maddix’s techno rumbles roll in the background of a powerful kick. The breakdown features Sarah de Warren’s ethereal vocal performance, singing in first person about her yearning for a person she truly loves. The second drop further ups the ante with the melody playing out with stronger vigor.
Interestingly enough, when the track was initially released, the credits featured none other than Tiësto who probably served as a co-producer of the track. At the time of writing this article, his name has been removed from the credits.
Maddix’s 2023 has been full of incredible achievements. He recently released his brand new groundbreaking plugin called Maddix Rumble which got amazing support from some of the scene’s greatest, Hardwell and Armin van Buuren to name a few. Coupled with the plugin’s release, he also released not 1, not 2, but 4 Hardwell collaborations and also remixed Tiësto’s timeless classic Traffic. Now, with the launch of his own record label EXTATIC, he is most certainly ready to break some more boundaries along the way.
As for KSHMR, he decided to delve deeper into his Indian roots with his upcoming album KARAM. KARAM also serves as a spiritual successor to his older days representing The Cataracs. He has released 2 singles off the album so far: Haath Varthi with MC Stan and Phenom, and Bhussi together with Seedhe Maut and Karan Kanchan. One thing is certain: both KSHMR and Maddix are showing absolutely no signs of stopping anytime soon. You can listen to Close To You down below.
