Steve Angello joins forces with Wh0 for club weapon ‘What You Need’: Listen

Not only celebrating a fresh new release, Steve Angello is also celebrating the newest chapter of his imprint SIZE Records. Coinciding with the label’s 20th anniversary – being celebrated throughout this year – it has now entered a partnership with fellow label Astralwerks which will distribute SIZE’s releases from now on. Honouring the 20-year legacy whilst looking to the future of fresh new releases, this partnership is kicked off with the boss himself Steve Angello and duo Wh0, teaming up for the hot new club weapon ‘What You Need.’

Fresh and ready to take on the clubs worldwide, ‘What You Need’ is the modernised version of the fresh signature sound that Angello has been continuously crafting to perfection ever since his early days. The result is infectiously energetic, cleverly using classic samples as a way to show just how much house music has been revolutionised over the years, and proving that the classics are still golden. Speaking of the track’s background, Wh0 say:

“This record emerged from our manager introducing us to Kurtis Mantronik’s ’77 Strings’ and a video of Fatboy Slim performing it at the classic Big Beach Boutique II concert in Brighton back in 2002. We admired it, but we wanted to adapt the sample in our unique style and not merely loop it. Incorporating some old-school rave stabs and organs, we sent it to Steve a year later… he instantly connected with it and added his own magic into the mix. We’re incredibly proud of the final result!”
