As of today (Sun, 3 September) Burning Man officials are still keeping roads closed, asking people to not drive at this point in time.

As things at Burning Man still show no sign of looking up, with attendees still stuck on the Playa, officials have posted an update to their online journal as of today, 3 September. This includes updates on current activities, and the state of the Exodus (exit out of the event site). Whilst people may think the weather is looking up after the unexpected storms, it is said that there is still “an uncertain weather front approaching Black Rock City,” with some rain from intermittent thunderstorms, possible gusty winds & lightning approaching.

Now though, a select amount of vehicles have successfully started leaving the desert who have all-terrain tyres, but the majority are still stuck due to the blockage of mud.

Some vehicles with 4WD and all-terrain tires are able to navigate the mud and are successfully leaving. But we are seeing most other types of vehicles that try to depart getting stuck in the wet mud which hampers everyone’s Exodus. Please do NOT drive at this time. Road conditions differ based on the neighborhood. We will update you on the driving ban after this weather front has left the area.”

All of this aside, they are currently still planning to Burn the Man, the main activity of the event, but this can all change. For more updates, visit this page and check back on our website & Instagram page for current news.
