DJ_Dave introduces coded debut EP ‘Intercell’: Listen

Since the turn of the century, the creation of art and music has taken a drastic turn as the massive studios and recording budgets of yesteryear are being replaced by digital processes and home production spaces. One artist who is truly blurring the lines between analog and digital creation is live code producer DJ_Dave who has just released her debut EP.

Having already performed at high-profile events such as Elon Musk & Grimes’ Met Gala afterparty, as well as notable festivals Coachella, Art Basel, and an opening slot on the recent JPEGMAFIA tour, DJ_Dave is no stranger to the spotlight. Now the live code producer has taken another major career step forward with the release of her incredible debut EP, Intercell. Discussing the project and unique production style, DJ_Dave had this to say:

“As my debut project, my concept for Intercell is to make an entirely self-produced and performed project that emphasizes live-coding as an essential part of the production,” says Dave. “My goal is to show how live-coding can and should fit into world of music outside of technology-specific environments. I came up with the title Intercell as a way of explaining the way my project is part of something bigger than just this project, and bigger than myself.”

For those uninitiated with the coding process, DJ_Dave took to Instagram to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at her process of bringing her music to life. As she continues to hit stages big and small, DJ_Dave has also delivered visuals for all five tracks on the EP with help from visual coding artists Andy Rolfes and Char Stiles.
