The highly anticipated Electric Zoo 2023 definitely did not go to plan this year. After revealing a star-studded lineup featuring six stage takeovers, Electric Zoo officially canceled day one of the festival. On top of that there were reports of over four-hour wait times at will call and over-capacity issues on the last day with hundreds of attendees storming the gates. According to an official report from Mayor Adams, he has promised to deal with the event’s organizers of Electric Zoo which happens to be Avant Gardner.

Electric Zoo has always been an iconic festival and one for the books. This year’s lineup included the world debut of John Summit and Dom Dolla’s ‘Everything Always Stage’ and Fisher and Chris Lakes ‘Under Construction Stage,’ The lineup for Electric Zoo is always a star-studded affair, featuring interstellar performances and exciting collaborations. However, the festival took a turn as Electric Zoo officially canceled day one of the festival this year. Additionally, there were reports of over four-hour wait times for will-call and over-capacity issues on the last day which caused hundreds of attendees to storm the entry gates.

While the NYPD stated Electric Zoo oversold the capacity limit by 7,000 tickets on Sunday, NYC Mayor Adams has officially addressed the situation stating he has promised to deal with Avant Gardner. During the official NYPD briefing this past Tuesday, Mayor Adams shared:

“It’s unfortunate that the organizers wanted to turn our city into a zoo, and we were not going to allow that to happen.”
