The xx’s Romy drops major hint about their latest music project!

The British indie electronic trio The xx’s Romy recently revealed during an interview that they are working on a new track with the band.

According to the reveal by The xx’s Romy, fans of the band may be most excited now, as the trio’s latest album ‘I See You’ was released back in 2017. The announcement was made during an interview with the Spanish magazine Binaural.

“This year, we’ve spent time in the studio together, with no pressure, although I’m mindful that our last album was released in 2017.”, said Romy.

Perhaps it goes without saying, but the beauty of music is that there’s always something new, something fresh to add to this great invention that influences people’s lives. A good example of this is that there can be a crossover between genres, so rock and electronic music can go hand in hand. The xx, a British trio formed in 2005 and made up of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and Jamie Smith, do this very well, as they are very much at home in several genres, including indie rock and electronic music. But unfortunately, despite their fans’ high expectations, it’s been a long time since they released an album. The last one, ‘I See You’ was released in 2017 on the band’s flagship label Young Turks. But in a recent interview, on 21 September to be precise, fans may now be reinvigorated by Romy’s announcement. In the Spanish magazine Binaural, she announced that everyone in the trio was keen to work on a new song. “Well, the three of us recognised the need for something new to explore,”, said Romy, “We all acknowledged the importance of giving ourselves the time and space to learn and grow.”, she continues, reflecting the fact that they were already very far apart, each working on their own projects (and thus learning new things). No question, as bass guitarist/vocalist Oliver released his album Hideous Bastard in 2022, and producer Jamie XX also worked in the studio this year. On the other side, Romy, the guitarist/vocalist with the well-known music producer Fred Again.. released a song called “Strong”, and before that, there was another Fred Again.. and Romy collaboration.

In conclusion, it is quite safe to say that a new album, but definitely a single, is on the way, according to Romy, who said that they have been working on it together. This will be their next album since 2017, which is still a little unknown, but they will surely try something new in terms of sound.
