Amsterdam Dance Event announces opening party, ‘Breathe, Walk, Die’

As the industry eagerly awaits the start of Amsterdam Dance Event 2023 next week, all of this year’s events have begun to reveal the final parts of their program, including ADE themselves as they announce their opening party, ‘Breathe, Walk, Die.’ 

Announced earlier this week in a video, ‘Breathe, Walk, Die’ will kick off the five-day run for Amsterdam Dance Event 2023 on Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30 pm, at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as a collaboration with DJ/producer upsammy. As stated by ADE, the show will be “a unique performance where art and music blend seamlessly together, hosted at the iconic bicycle passage under the museum, made possible by the collaboration between the two cultural institutions.” The show will present three different acts that will “bring the exhibition Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen at Rijksmuseum to life” based on a musical tour created by upsammy for the exhibition. 

Under the direction of producer Tim Trago, the show will explore life through musical reflection from the point of birth up until the time of death with themes such as fear, desire, and ambition. ‘Breathe, Walk, Die’ will also feature live instrumentalists such as percussionist Valentina Magaletti and a visual interpretation by designer Theun Mosk.

‘Breathe, Walk, Die’ promises to be a mesmerizing and awe-inspiring way to begin ADE 2023, but those who will not be in attendance next Wednesday to see this show in person do not have to miss out. ADE has announced that they will be streaming the show live across their social channels. 

The Amsterdam Dance Event 2023 Opening Party, ‘Breath, Walk, Die,’ will take place next Wednesday, October 18th, at the Rijksmuseum starting at 7:30 pm. Admission to the event is free. You can RSVP to attend here.
