The two Dutch DJs bring an unforgettable experience and inspiration to some children’s day: Armin van Buuren & Laura van Dam visit children of the Tomorrowland Foundation x Ektara Music & Arts School in Kolkata, India.

Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School by Ektara, founded in December 2022, welcomed two very special guests last week. Dutch electronic music stars Armin van Buuren & Laura van Dam arrived to perform sets at the Sunburn Arena, a partnership between Absolut, Rhythmbox and t2ONLINE this year. But alongside this gig, a special set was performed at a school, which opened in December 2022.

“The organisation’s primary goal is to provide high-quality learning opportunities to these individuals, ensuring they have access to education, capacity-building initiatives, and the opportunity to lead empowered lives with dignity,”, said Namrata Sureka, co-founder of Ektara.

About Ektara Music & Arts School

Ek Tara, in collaboration with the Tomorrowland Foundation, has launched a pioneering 7000 sq. ft. Music and Arts School in Kolkata. Officially opened on December 2, 2022, it provides underprivileged children in Topsia and surrounding areas with classes in Art & Craft, Dance, DJ & Electronic Music, Photography, Music, and Theatre.

Armin’s present

Armin arrived at the venue at approximately 2 p.m. and dedicated nearly two hours to engaging with the children and teachers, leaving a lasting impression on them. “This is a very emotional feeling; it’s very impressive to see what these people are doing,”, said Armin. Following this heartwarming interaction, he took the stage to deliver an inspirational DJ set.

Laura’s present

Laura van Dam achieved a historic milestone as the first female DJ to leave her mark on the wall adorned with messages from iconic figures such as Martin Garrix, who also graced the location in March, and Armin van Buuren. “Thank you for having me. Girls, believe in your dreams and be strong xxx girl power (sic)”, said Laura.
