UMEK & Maddix mark the 300th release of 1605 with ‘Hypnotizing’: Listen

A collaboration that was long overdue. That’s how you can describe UMEK & Maddix’s new joint work Hypnotizing, out now on UMEK’s label 1605.

Ever since Maddix transferred his energetic big-room style over to more vigorous sounds of techno there was always speculation that one of his future collaborations could end up being one with the Slovenian techno legend UMEK. Fast forward 3 years later, and the collaboration has finally been laid at our feet. Hypnotizing, a smashing acid techno production, came out on UMEK’s esteemed label 1605 and it is a special one namely because it’s the 300th release on it.

The amount of energy stored in Hypnotizing is almost palpable. Combining UMEK’s enormous experience which spans over 30 years now with the modern production techniques of Maddix, it serves as another piece in the puzzle of both exceptional artists. 1605 always had a fine mixture of talents and legends, from Sam Wolfe, Danny Avila, and Space 92, and Maddix certainly is a great addition to the long-standing label. With a wide array of acid and drums, Hypnotizing manages to maintain its vigor with relative ease. Flawlessly switching between a soothing and mysterious ethnic vocal and powerful drops, it manages to keep the listener at the edge of their seat.

Maddix is totally unstoppable at the moment, with the Dutchman recently remixing Armin van Buuren’s Computers Take Over The World and dropping one of the most successful techno tracks of the year My Gasoline with Fēlēs. He will be hoping he finally emerges as one of the top 100 DJs in the world when the DJ Mag top 100 reveal comes around the corner. As for UMEK, he recently dropped Aktivate together with another veteran Sam Wolfe which is another fine addition to his humongous portfolio of bangers. Celebrating his legacy and a 30-year career, he will be hosting a special UMEK legacy set in December of this year at Slovenia’s esteemed club Kurzschluss.
