Marshmello became an icon of the electronic music landscape when his single Alone burst onto the scene and became an anthem for fans everywhere. Now seven years later, the helmet-wearing producer and DJ is very much not alone as he enlists a wide variety of Latin stars for his new project, Sugar Papi.

When Marshmello burst onto the scene, he was known for his upbeat festival anthems that define his Joytime releases, providing major chord progressions and upbeat rhythms for festival goers to groove to. Little did the world know that the producer had no plans to stay in that lane, instead exploring a wide variety of sounds and styles, from harder dubstep to hip-hop, and now a full-blown Latin-inspired collection. The seeds for the inspiration were first planted publicly a few months back when Marshmello teamed up with Manuel Turizo for the groovy single, El Merengue.

Expanding the sound and style across 11 tracks, the album is full of collaborators such as Young Miko, Anuel AA, Nicky Jam, and more, with every track featuring the talents of a different Latin artist. Whether you’re a fan of Latin music or not, this collection is as infectious as anything Marshmello has ever released, crafting concise tracks that clock in at just 30 minutes for the entire release. With the hip-shaking production in full effect, the producer introduces some of his tricks from past hits, such as the guitar-driven single Como Yo 🙁, with its arpeggio style strumming reminiscent of his global smash hit with Anne-Marie, FRIENDS.

As fans anxiously await the arrival of the fourth installment of Marshmello’s Joytime series, Sugar Papi is a fun burst of energy and music that should open fans’ eyes to a variety of new artists and further expand the producers resume for his seemingly endless ability to adapt and create exciting tracks.
