Richie Hawtin alias Plastikman composes soundtrack for Prada exhibition in Shanghai

PLASTIKMAN, the renowned electronic musician Richie Hawtin, crafts exclusive soundscapes for PRADASPHERE II in Shanghai, a collaboration with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. The exhibition spans Prada’s 110-year history, featuring over 400 artifacts, blending fashion, art, architecture, culture, and sport.

Hawtin’s bespoke soundscapes accompany guests through immersive spaces, enhancing their journey into Prada’s past, present, and future. PRADASPHERE II, a cultural exploration, showcases the symbiotic relationship and creative chemistry between Richie Hawtin project Plastikman and the iconic fashion house, Prada.

Richie Hawtin reflects on the project’s creative challenges, emphasizing the harmonious interplay of sight and sound. His hour-long generative audio soundscapes contribute to the exhibition’s unique ambiance. The Richie Hawtin Plastikman collaboration with PRADA began in 2021, evolving from composing runway soundtracks for Prada’s online fashion shows to the expansive PRADASPHERE II.

In 2021, Hawtin introduced Prada Extends at Tate Modern, a collaborative concept celebrating local talent, sound, and visuals. This global event series, including Tokyo, Miami’s Art Basel, and Bangkok, expands Prada’s creative reach, solidifying Hawtin’s role as a vital collaborator.

Pradasphere II, Start Museum, Shanghai will take place between December 7, 2023 – January 21, 2024.
