Beatport celebrates 20 years of the platform and company with BPXX, announced on 16 January. BPXX itself is a showcase of the last 20 years of dance culture. This broadly means special events or programs, brought together under the slogan “Music Is Unstoppable”. This involves a year-long series of programs, which is very interesting.

Believe it or not, Beatport is now 20 years old. Beatport 1.0 was launched on 7 January 2004, by which time it had 79 electronic music labels in its catalog. Just for interest, a year after its launch, it already had over 2,700 labels signed up. It’s perhaps no wonder that thanks to its tremendous growth, it has now grown to become one of the most influential platforms in the dance music scene. They have made several strategic acquisitions over the years, such as when Beatport acquired Loopcloud and Plugin Boutique in 2020. Last year, Beatport acquired a majority stake in the dance music industry’s premier conference, the International Music Summit Ibiza (IMS), according to Beatportal.

The BPXX Capsule is a digital platform that brings together the last 20 years of their history in a virtual way. They count from the very beginning, from the very first track of the company to today’s uploads. So the very first track became Steve Smooth’s “Beatfreaker” remixed by Jay Walker and David Garcia Retromode. BPXX Capsule is available under the official Beatport domain, check out the best dance music from the last 20 years.

In addition, as part of BPXX, further events can be expected to be organized by Beatport in 2024, outside the virtual space. According to the announcement, this will be detailed/announced in the coming months. Beatport continues to promise a lot of progress for 2024, thanks to its innovative solutions. Within the BPXX program, they want to represent, among other things, 20 years of progress, beyond energetic music.
