Daft Punk mark 3 years since split with Interstella 5555 livestream

Yesterday, on the 22nd of February, Daft Punk commemorated the third anniversary of their separation with a special Twitch stream of their 2003 anime masterpiece, Interstella 5555: The 5tory Of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.

The exclusive stream aired on the French duo’s Twitch channel precisely at 5:22 pm ET. Originally crafted to complement their second studio album, ‘Discovery’ from 2001, the film was co-written by Cédric Hervet, with direction by Kazuhisa Takenouchi, known for his work on Dragon Ball Z. The late Japanese manga legend, Leiji Matsumoto, provided oversight for the project.

Interstella 5555, spanning an hour, narrates the tale of the duo’s abduction by extraterrestrial insurgents and the subsequent rescue attempt by a space pilot named Shep. While the complete film was previously scarce online, fragments were utilized in music videos for iconic tracks like ‘One More Time’ and ‘Digital Love’.

Each year since their breakup announcement in 2021, Daft Punk has observed the anniversary in various ways.
