Calvin Harris is no stranger to producing massive radio hits and working alongside some of the biggest stars in pop music. Now he has contributed production work to two tracks on the latest release from Justin Timberlake.

For Calvin Harris, no collaboration or artist is out of reach when it comes to producing new music and shaping the direction of the electronic music world and radio. In 2022, the Scottish producer released his sixth album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2, and delivered a fantasy collaboration when he brought together Justin Timberlake, Halsey, and Pharrell Williams for the single, Stay With Me. As he continues his steady output of new music and live performances, he also continued his work with Justin Timberlake, producing two tracks for the star’s new album, Everything I Thought It Was.

Fans of Timberlake know that he has often blurred the lines between pop and dance music while injecting new energy and ideas into both scenes. For his latest album, he continues to expand his sound while delivering 18 new tracks, including a long overdue reunion with his brothers in N*SYNC. While the whole album is a great listen, early on, fans of Calvin Harris can digest two back-to-back tracks early on the new release. The second track is the aptly titled F**kin’ Up The Disco, a track that delivers the funky house style of Harris’ early work with a wink towards his own debut album, I Created Disco. It is funky and dark, seeing Timberlake alter his delivery to a dark tone to set the mood before his staple crooning takes over.

Next on the album is No Angels, while slightly less pulsing than the previous track, it is nonetheless clearly a product of Harris’ recent production style, combining his Funk Wav Bounces sound with modern pop and house music. The two artists seem incredibly comfortable together and the work is a staunch reminder of the talent and range of Calvin Harris, a one-time pioneer of dance music who continues to buck the trends of the genre as he commits to his crossover success.
