Dada Life: Don’t have a professional mic? No problem.
Dada Life, the influential Swedish DJ duo recognized for pioneering plugins such as ‘Sausage Fattener & Endless Smile,’ introduces an intriguing proposition: leveraging the MacBook’s microphone for vocal recording.
In a recent post on Dada Life’s Instagram, Stephan showcased that he is using the Apple MacBook M1’s microphone for recording vocals. By taking a pop filter he was able to reduce the sensitivity of the microphone and to reduce pop noises. Additionally, to the pop filter, he was using 4 plugins to make his voice more crispy and clean.
The first plugin was the Soothe 2 by Oeksound, he used it to cut frequencies and reduce some other harsh frequencies. Following up, he used the FabFilter Pro-Q3 to enhance other frequencies and reduce dynamically poppy frequencies. And to wrap it all up, he used Ableton’s stock Compressor and Multi-Band Compressor. As always, Dada Life brought some smiles to our faces by using a creative way to record vocals.
