Frankie Knuckles’ best remixes and classics to be released on vinyl via Defected’s House Masters series

Commemorating 10 years since the passing of the legendary Frankie Knuckles, Defected Records has announced that his best classics and remixes will get a vinyl release on their own House Masters series.

10 long years have passed since we were stripped away from the presence of a total revolutionary, Frankie Knuckles. To be precise, today marks exactly 10 years since his death. To commemorate his life-long dedication to house music, Defected Records will be releasing a collection of some of his best work in a new vinyl set. As a part of Defected’s House Masters series, Frankie Knuckles Volume One and Two will get their first official release since 2015, when the double-CD version came out. Since then, the double-CD version went out of stock, while the digital version isn’t available anymore due to licensing restrictions.

Volume One features Frankie Knuckles classics such as Your Love together with Jamie Principle, Too Many Fish featuring Adeva, and his remix for Hercules & Love Affair’s Blind. On the other hand, Volume Two includes The Whistle Song, a couple of 12″ mixes for Electribe 101 and First Choice, Workout with Roberta Gilliam, and more.

Defected Records took to Instagram to share how the Frankie Knuckles Volume One and Two came to life:

“Back in 2013 we embarked on a journey with Frankie and his manager Judy Weinstein to release his very own volume of our “House Masters” compilation series. Tragically and unexpectedly, Frankie passed away in 2014 and respectfully the project was put on hold. After some time, we reconnected with Judy and suggested we pick the project back up and announce its release on the first anniversary of Frankie’s death.”

The vinyl series is currently up for pre-order on Defected’s official online store and is slated for release in May. Alongside the vinyl series, they have also put on a House Masters: Frankie Knuckles t-shirt and an issue of Faith Fanzine for spring 2024 with the late Frankie gracing the front page.
