Home Tech LEAKED: Elektron Digitakt II Stereo Sampling Groovebox

Elektron, the Swedish music technology company, has just unknowingly leaked the release of the Digitakt II, a powerful stereo sampling groovebox. The 16 Track Digitakt Drum Computer And Stereo Sampler went live on Elektron’s staging site and was eventually noticed by fans globally. A staging site, in case you are not familiar, is a duplicate website where developers test certain functions or pages before making them live on the main one. While the page was taken down, with the help of web archives, users are still able to find it.

The Digitakt II is a digital drum computer and stereo sampler that offers a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the original Digitakt. The upcoming groovebox has a radically enhanced memory capacity and the ability to store up to 30 minutes of stereo samples per project.

One of the standout features of the Digitakt II is its modular approach to sound creation. Users can mix and match five distinct sample-manipulating Machines, including the Grid for precise sample slicing, Werp for venturing into new sonic territories, Repitch and Stretch for fitting samples to the beat, and One Shot for crisp drum hits and tones.

The device also boasts an expanded sequencer, with 128 steps for users to traverse – double the amount of its predecessor. This increased sequencing capacity allows for more complex patterns and rhythms, including the use of Euclidean sequence generators and conditional trigs, adding an extra layer of complexity and creativity to the music-making process.

In addition to its impressive sampling and sequencing capabilities, the Digitakt II has a bunch of built-in effects, including delay, reverb, chorus, bit reduction, sample rate reduction, and overdrive.

The Digitakt II can connect to other music gear through its balanced stereo inputs and outputs. It also has MIDI in, out, and through ports, allowing it to sequence, play, and control external instruments. The Digitakt II has an aluminum body and is relatively small in size. This makes it powerful for creating many different sounds, while also having an attractive design that works well in a music studio or live performance setup.

The price listed on the staging site is $999.00. You can have a look at the landing page here.
