While the nearly decade-long wait between albums ramped up the suspense for Skrillex fans, his production work and genre-defying releases have been a constant. Now he joins forces with Varg²™ and Bladee for an exciting electro-house trip.

Having previously worked with Bladee for two tracks off his 2023 album, Don’t Get To Close, Skrillex once again finds himself working alongside the Swedish producer, this time for a track on the new Varg²™ album. The album, Nordic Flora Series, Part 6: Outlaw Music, features 14 tracks with help from Joon Gloom, LEYA, Rx Papi, and more throughout the release. For his work with Skrillex and Bladee, they combine their efforts for Is there a place in heaven for boys like me?, a nearly 4-minute exploration of catchy melodies, glitches, and pulsing rhythms.

Opening with an airy array of leads and synths, the hazy vocals fit perfectly amongst the dreamlike music that serves as the foundation of the track. The track builds slowly, its ascent defined by the subtle horns that peak through the track before an automated voice counts down ahead of the hook/drop section. Amidst the driving kick drum, the high-pitched glitch vocals help turn up the energy.

Following Skrillex’s infamous ‘Oh my god’ sample, the final section of the song delivers the heaviest punch, teetering on the edge of unleashing a classic dubstep drop but never fully diving into the style entirely, instead offering a more amped version of the previous drop.

Is there a place in heaven for boys like me? is a fun, glitch-filled production allowing Skrillex, Varg²™, and Bladee to all shine.
