With audience becoming a literal sea of cell phones documenting the events, several artists and clubs are beginning to ban the devices from their shows. Anyma is considering the practice going forward for his events and brought up the topic with his social media followers.

It is not uncommon for artists and fans to complain about the overuse of cell phones during events in the last decade and a half. Ever since smartphones provided the possibility for high-quality, extended filming and sharing to social media capabilities, it has become common place to see concert-goes with their devices in the air throughout entire performances. This overuse of cell phones can appear disconnected and has transformed the concert going experience for many in recent years. To combat this and try to make events fell more connected, many artists and venues are looking to ban cell phones from concert floors. The concept of collecting attendees cell phones and storing them in secure areas has been utilized to help concert-goers remain more focused on the entertainment.

While this practice has mixed responses from audience goers, more artists seem willing to try it and Anyma appears to be the latest who looks to join the trend. In a recent post to Instagram, the producer wrote, ‘🚫📱at my events? Let’s decide this together.’ In the comments, he had two separate replies from himself, ‘YES, BAN PHONES’ and ‘NO, ALLOW PHONES.’ The ‘no’ post has collected 1,560 likes while the ‘yes’ option is well ahead with 8,028 likes, making it seem like future Anyma show will be phone free events. As fans await Anyma’s official response to the poll, the ‘ban phones’ contingent has spoken and seems to support the producer if that is the path he chooses to take.
