After being named in Forbes‘s rich list this year, French superstar DJ David Guetta is on a quest to become the world’s highest paid DJ. As it currently stands, multi-Platinum selling DJ Calvin Harris is atop of the list, however, Guetta explains:

“There is competition, but in a positive way… We’re all really good friends.”

According to Forbes highest paid DJ’s list, Calvin Harris’ total earnings this year has amounted to a whopping $48.5 million, comfortably placing him in first place. Meanwhile, Guetta’s 100-odd shows in the past 12 months, has netted him a cool $25 million; placing him in 7th spot. In addition to this, Dutch news website QUOTE claims that both DJ’s reportedly charge approximately $350,000 per performance, however, Calvin Harris has been known to charge up to $550,000.

Although Calvin Harris is the world’s richest DJ, after this year’s MTV EMA‘s, Guetta was crowned the best DJ, when he won the award for ‘Best Electronic Act‘, beating out the likes of Calvin Harris, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix and The Chainsmokers. In celebration of the well-deserved win, Guetta performed his new track ‘Dirty, Sexy Money‘ live alongside French Montana and Charli XCX. Since its release, the track has amassed almost 8.5 million Spotify streams!
