With Canadian superstar deadmau5 celebrating his 37th birthday yesterday, what better way to mark the occasion than looking back on a seminal moment in dance music history, as the legendary Swedish House Mafia interviewed the Mau5trap head honcho a full 6 years ago, in this BBC Radio 1 interview.

With Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello stepping in for famed DJ and broadcaster Pete Tong in Los Angeles, the quartet discuss the city, and LA’s influence on the music industry, as well as the best places in America to grab some food with deadmau5 highly recommending a half-bacon, half-beef burger to the Swedish trio.

With 2018 now underway, deadmau5 has revealed that his next project is set to be the ‘most epic thing‘ he has ever done. Whilst rumours persist of the potential reunion of Swedish House Mafia, with many fans spreading the news across forums that they expect the 20th anniversary of Ultra Music Festival in Miami this March to be the ideal location for such a performance.

You can mark deadmau5’s birthday by checking out the interview, and the SHM essential mix, broadcast as part of the same show, all the way back in February 2012:
