Moby has been a staple of the electronic music scene for decades, having first signed a record deal way back in 1990 before achieving superstar success before the turn of the century. Although he continues to look forward and release new music, he recently revealed to fans how to play one of his older tracks.

Turning the clock back 22 years, Moby decided to pull back the curtain on how to play his single Extreme Ways from his 2002 album, 18. In the short video, which was posted to Instagram, the famed producer and artist cuts through several scenes, each beginning with him revealing what instrument he will be showcasing along the journey. To start, he begins by showing him behind a drum kit, playing through a measure or two of the songs progression. The next two cuts see him adding electronic bass and guitar to the piece, jamming away at a B. Next up, he cuts to himself at his studio computer, following the bass and guitar with string pad and electronic piano to further fill out the space.

At this point in the video, the song truly comes to life as he plays the distinctive string riff, oscillating the note while filling out the space of the other elements. With the foundation laid, he reveals the final element…his vocals. Now that he has explored each track, he puts it all together as the video cuts to eight distinct squares showing Moby jamming with himself. The final product is beautiful and fun and a great recreation of the iconic single.
