MOTU UltraLite mk5 gets new features via firmware update

Home Tech Tech News MOTU UltraLite mk5 gets new features via firmware update

Despite its two-year tenure, the MOTU UltraLite mk5 continues to evolve, surprising users with the introduction of brand-new features. The new update includes WiFi access and Room Control. Let’s delve into the latest advancements propelling this stalwart audio interface into the future.

WiFi Acess

When the UltraLite-mk5 establishes a connection with a computer via a Wi-Fi network, users gain the ability to wirelessly manage all aspects through the CueMix 5 app, accessible on mobile devices or other computers within the same network. This includes simultaneous control across multiple devices. Moreover, users can regulate access to the UltraLite-mk5 and other online MOTU devices through network discovery and security functionalities. Each MOTU device on the network can be allocated a password, ensuring security, especially in settings like school labs or performance venues, where staff can access all mixing features and settings while students or audience members are restricted.

Room Control

In the CueMix 5 app, users can effortlessly connect two sets of studio monitors, labeled A and B, to outputs 1-2 and 3-4 correspondingly. With a simple click, they can seamlessly switch between the two sets of speakers, instantly comparing their mixes. Moreover, for studios equipped with multi-channel monitoring configurations, the latest Monitor Group feature empowers users to integrate any assortment of analog outputs. This inclusion enables control via the UltraLite-mk5’s primary volume knob on the front panel, as well as its corresponding “soft” knob in the CueMix 5 app.

Jim Cooper, MOTU Director of Marketing says –

‘The UltraLite-mk5 essentially got a feature boost from our just-released 828 audio interface because they share the same DSP-driven CueMix 5 mixer and front-end app. While developing these features for the new 828, it made perfect sense for our engineering team to add them to the UltraLite-mk5 as well.’
