“I’m Crying” – Hardwell Devastated After Ultra Miami Cancels Day 1

The cancellation of Ultra Music Festival’s opening day in Miami hit Hardwell especially hard, with the Dutch DJ revealing he’s “crying” after months of intense preparation was wiped out by severe storms.

Ultra organizers made the difficult decision to call off Day 1 on Friday just a few before Hardwell was scheduled to take the stage at Bayfront Park. Dangerous thunderstorms with heavy rain, lightning, and high winds made it impossible to safely operate the festival. While disappointing for all the fans who traveled to Miami eagerly awaiting Day 1, the cancellation was a particularly brutal blow for Hardwell. The Big Room House legend was one of the day’s most anticipated headliners.

Taking to social media after the cancellation, Hardwell didn’t mince words about his emotional state, tweeting “I’m crying right now, 3 months of work by the team and myself. Wow….

Those three months were spent developing what was sure to be an over-the-top production just for Ultra Miami’s iconic main stage. From meticulous setlist curation and special edits to designing lighting, video, pyro and likely other surprises, it’s easy to see how much effort went into Hardwell’s big festival return.

Unfortunately, all that blood, sweat, and tears culminated in a canceled show due to circumstances out of everyone’s control. While Hardwell and many others had their Ultra Miami 2024 kicks cruelly cut short, the festival has announced it will resume Saturday for Day 1 as originally scheduled.

Fans showed an outpouring of support for Hardwell on social media after his heartbreaking posts. The dance music community feels his pain all too well after having a big performance ripped away by forces of nature.
