Hardwell, Blasterjaxx & Maddix unleash the explosiveness on ‘16’: Listen

Home Featured Hardwell, Blasterjaxx & Maddix unleash the explosiveness on ‘16’: Listen

After collaborating with each other for almost a decade, Hardwell, Blasterjaxx, and Maddix have finally joined forces on a track. 16 embodies everything the quartet has been creating as of late and promises unrivaled energy.

This is the type of collaboration that always manages to turn heads with relative ease. Hardwell, Blasterjaxx, and Maddix have successfully collaborated with each other for the first time after working with one another back and forth for around 10 years. 16, their first collaborative effort ever, is an explosive techno track that serves as a rework of Ard Und Jorn’s early hardstyle hit also called 16. Firstly involving only Blasterjaxx and Maddix as teased on social media, Hardwell dropped the bomb in his latest episode on Hardwell On Air revealing that 16 is in fact a joint collaboration. The trio played it for the first time together at Revealed Night Miami during Miami Music Week, shattering the dance floor into pieces in the process.

The collaboration is everything you would expect from the trio. Personally, I love the fact that Hardwell has been reworking trance classics as previously evidenced by Loneliness with Tomcraft & DJs From Mars (original by Tomcraft) and Take Me Away with Maddix & 4 Strings (original by 4 Strings). This time around the 2 time #1 DJ by DJ Mag has breathed new life into the seemingly forgotten 16 by Ard und Jorn which was released back in 2002. Pulsating techno kicks and the powerful, although repetitive melody of the original work together perfectly and show a glimpse of what will it be able to do when the festival season fully kicks in.

Hardwell recently returned to the Ultra Miami mainstage in the most dramatic of fashions. Following the cancelation of the first day of the premier Ultra festival, just before the Dutchman’s performance, 24 hours of sheer tension ensued. Ultimately, Hardwell was slotted in to play on Saturday and he didn’t disappoint. Maddix, on the other hand, managed to play out his Friday Ultra Miami set in full, even amongst the pouring rain. Energy did not let down, as people ferociously danced to the producer’s infectious techno beats. 16 was a part of both artists’ Ultra Miami sets and it certainly did its job well, unleashing explosive energy.
