As the legacy of Daft Punk continues to grow even years after the duo hung up their helmets, one of their most legendary pieces of art will make its way to North America for the first time. An intricate piece of anime and art from 2003 has long been a part of the French duo’s legacy but it will now give a new audience the chance to experience it for the first time.

Ironically, fans of Daft Punk appear to be getting more content and access to the famed duo in the time since they announced the dissolution of the group as opposed to when they were an active force. In the latest announcement regarding the French producers, their legendary 2003 anime film, Interstella 5555 will get an official premiere in North America for the first time. The new release follows the limited edition Something About Us (Love Theme From Interstella 5555) 12″ vinyl that hit stores for Record Store Day back in April.

Written by Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and Cédric Hervet and directed by directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi, with supervision from the legendary Leiji Matsumoto, the film has been remastered in 4K for the event. Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is an hour-long spectacle that was cut into smaller segments to act as music videos for the Discovery era singles of Daft Punk. Since then, it is rarely seen in its full form in theaters but North American fans will have a chance to witness it at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival.
