Home Tech HiFiMAN launches flagship SUSVARA UNVEILED open-back headphones at $8,000

Staggering $8,000 headphones offer a complete and free open design to minimize undesired sound reflections.

The market for high-end headphones appears truly limitless, with prices reaching higher and higher for consumers across the globe. In 2017, HiFiMAN’s original SUSVARA open-back planar-magnetic headphones were revealed at $6,000 and were recognized as some of the best available. Recently, HiFiMAN has introduced SUSVARA UNVEILED, priced at $8,000 and designed to reveal even more enhancements.

These new reference open-back planar-magnetic headphones feature a newly developed nanometer-thickness diaphragm and a Magnetic Veil that fits over the ear cups when not in use, protecting the headphones from damage caused by magnetic objects. Most headphones use a metal mesh as a grill to protect the drivers. However, HiFiMAN’s top-tier models, including the HE1000 and the original SUSVARA, are designed to maximize grill exposure. This is because the nanometer-thick diaphragm is so lightweight that reflections from the grill can interfere with its movement pattern.

Specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 6Hz-75kHz
  • Sensitivity: 86dB
  • Impedance: 45Ω
  • Weight: 430 grams/16.16 ounces

We named the new model SUSVARA UNVEILED because it reveals every detail of well-recorded music through its design and components,” says Dr. Fang Bian, Founder and CEO of HiFiMAN Electronics. “As the successor to our acclaimed SUSVARA reference headphones, SUSVARA UNVEILED embodies our commitment to continually enhancing even the most successful and high-performing products in our lineup.

Pre-orders will be available soon on the website and retail outlets, with shipments expected to begin around the end of June.
