Earlier this month, Avicii‘s family released his first posthumous song from the upcoming album ‘Tim’ which will release in June this year. ‘SOS‘, in collaboration with singer and songwriter Aloe Blacc, the song was a massive success, as fans of the late DJ and producer were excited to hear the music Avicii was working on before he passed. ‘SOS’ entered the Billboard Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs charts at number 2 position, his highest entry since his 2014 hit tune ‘Wake Me Up’.

Aloe Blacc spoke about ‘SOS’ and the process behind the creation of the track, stating:

All his notes, all his particulars, everything that you hear on this version was Tim’s vision.”

More details on the production of SOS are available on YouTube, where a video titled ‘The Story Behind SOS‘ was posted sharing a look into the creative production of ‘SOS’, featuring archive footage of Avicii in his studio, tying together the stories told throughout the video.

The passing of Avicii last year has had a massive impact on the music industry, bringing many artists who knew him well close together and also raised awareness for mental health issues associated to the intense touring schedules many international DJs have to stick to. The proceeds from the upcoming posthumous album ‘Tim’ will be donated to the Tim Bergling foundation, which was set up by his family to raise awareness on mental health.

An official biography of Avicii is also set to be published in 2020 by the Swedish publishing house Albert Bonniers Förlag. It will be written by successful journalist Måns Mosesson, who already won awards like Prix Italia and Stora Journalistpriset for his work.
